The inspiration for this sculpture came during a 2006 visit to the old Jewish synogue in Brussels. The marble was part of a batch quarried in about 1900 for construction of the elaborate Gould Estate in Lakewood, New Jersey. Several blocks were unused and were later shipped to Hawaii by the artist.
